The Red Sox

redsoxgod.jpg

It is time for me to take a step out of my professional life to take a moment to discuss another passion. The Boston Red Sox are a team that stirs emotions, crazy feelings, debates, discussions, and other life expanding conversations that we revel in for only a few short months. It is this time of year, as a Red Sox fan, that we hope the season goes by quickly and we begin to set our sites on the New England Patriots. But there is a definite struggle because no one wants the summer itself to end. As the leaves change so does any possibility of the Red Sox going anywhere. You wonder how a team can be on top for so long and then float away. With all of that being said they are still the best team in baseball in my mind and have the best fans in the world. Whether they are winning or losing we still cheer, swear, pay outrageous prices for tickets and beer, take the T and hoot and holler on the train, and just plain love being at Fenway. I can’t say any other ball team or park sparks so much enthusiasm. So in my mind the Red Sox are and always will be winners. Winning the world series was icing on the cake and we will all be licking our fingers for another century. Who cares -it is the good times and thrills that make them so great. Only Red Sox fans would understand that.

  1. I had to laugh when I saw this blog. My husband is a huge Red Sox fan and is from Mass. I am a yankees fan. But for years I adored his passion for a team and the spunky fun love for them that kinda made me cheer for them! Especially for Johnny Damon who doesnt belong on the team I love. :) But its always funny how much grief we both get from our NY or Boston family/friends.

Hey Shel, I browsed your blog; it’s great; my husband loves the Yankees. I’m only a Series groupie.

Although I am a Yankee fan I would have to agree with you that Fenway Park is a great place to watch a game. I’ve been to a lot of sporting events and I don’t think there is any better rivalry in sports than the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Being a Yankee fan, I really just despise the Red Socks. By definition, they aren’t considered a rivalry unless you consider the past 10 years. It has been very exciting to watch such great games, but we need to restore order to the Universe.

As a die hard yankee fan i find a few of your comments to be pretty interesting. First off, i agree totally with you that every baseball fan looks forward to the post-season. This time of year is the most exciting for any baseball fan, but in reality we all realize that the summer is about to end and the weather is about to change as well. I still feel that Yankee fans are amazing but i do have to say that i am pretty impressed by the Boston fan’s at Fenway. The “Park” looks awesome from inside and out and i especially like the seats above the monster. I just heard that Shop Rite ran out of “icing”, so Boston fans i hope you savor the flavor because winning the series again anytime soon is just not going to happen!! Go Yanks (and Rays this postseason)

Well I have to say you guys have put together a team like no other. I don’t think anyone can compete. Good luck. I think you will go all the way.
